About Dior

Christian Dior founded his eponymous fashion house on December 16, 1946, in Paris, supported by textile magnate Marcel Boussac. The Maison was established at 30 Avenue Montaigne, which remains its iconic headquarters to this day.
In February 1947, Dior presented his first collection, known as the “New Look.” With cinched waists, full skirts, and soft feminine silhouettes, this debut revolutionized post-war fashion and redefined the modern woman’s elegance.

The Founder and His Philosophy

Christian Dior was born on January 21, 1905, in Granville, a coastal town in Normandy, France. Initially passionate about art, he even owned an art gallery before turning to fashion design — a shift that would change the course of 20th-century fashion.

Dior’s creative philosophy centered around beauty, femininity, and confidence. He believed fashion should enhance not only a woman’s appearance but also her inner sense of self.
He once said:

“I wanted to make women feel beautiful, not only in their clothes but in their sense of self.”

This timeless vision became the foundation of Dior’s legacy — a perfect balance between tradition and innovation, honoring heritage while embracing the future.
